Cold Exposure and Diabetes – By Art De Vany
So, we may have two theories of diabetes: type 1 as an adaptation to cold and type 2 as an original hunter gatherer population more recently adapted to argriculture. But, cold adaptation may play a part in the latter form of diabetes as well. The cold-adapted, late agriculture-adopting populations may have a double exposure to type 2 diabetes. I think this is my preferred theory, which to my knowledge has not been proposed in the literature.

Without looking into this in more detail, it is not really possible to form a sharp, testable distinction between these theories. But, there do seem to be some caveats to the degree to which we should use cold exposure as a health or body composition intervention.
